Whoopi Goldberg: When an interview gives you back a piece of memory

There are some interviews with some movie stars leaving us beating heart, because one of their characters may be connected to a piece of our life. My recent interview to Whoopi Goldberg reminded me of Spielberg’s The Color Purple.

About twenty years ago, I had a fight with my little girl and I stayed at home. I took a videotape and watched a movie. The story of The Color Purple, based on Alice Walker’s novel, let me make a lot of reflections about racism and African American Story.
Looking at the colour of my skin, I recognised there were many banalities in my life and the real value of some people should have been different. I run to my girlfriend and I said to her: “Sorry”. I discovered the weight of that word, even if she cared nothing for it.

Meeting Mrs. Goldberg, I thought about the carousel of life. At that time I would never have imagined to work as journalist and meet the actress coming from that movie, without sharing the moment with the same little girl I said “Sorry”.

  1. Fantastico! Dimmi una cosa, è una donna fantastica proprio come sembra? No perché io ho sempre pensato di sì.
